Support of our projects
Peter Müller (Theater Handgemenge)
I have lived in Mecklenburg Vorpommern since 1993. From 1993 to the year 2000 I was employed as an actor at the Kammertheater Neubrandenburg (this theatre was merged in 2000, which made the concept of this theatre impossible. Since then it has been performed by the Theater Neustrelitz. Freelance artists may be able to rent the theatre hall - but this would not be profitable).
Since 2000 I have been working as an independent artist in Germany - Europe - and worldwide.
Support by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Since 2007, all applications for project funding have been rejected.
There has been no support from the city of Neubrandenburg.
For somewhat larger projects, we strive for co-productions with other theatres, undertake guest performances in Germany, Europe - or worldwide.
In rare cases we receive funding, such as 2019 from the city of Potsdam. These project grants usually cover about 5-10% of the costs.
In the case of projects funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (which has so far covered 1 overall project), this percentage is higher.
In the last 15 years we have co-produced projects with the following theatres or received financial support from state institutions
Kulturstiftung des Bundes, Goethe Institute, German Embassy, Fonds darstellende Künste, Burghof Lörrach, Theater Vorpommern GmbH, FITs Stuttgart, Bayer Kultur, T-Werk Potsdam, Opera Erfurt, Schaubude Berlin, or private supporters
Performance opportunities in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
These have not existed for about 15 years. Due to mergers of theatres and cancellation of funds, there are hardly any fee for freelance theatre left.
Mecklenburg is increasingly subsidising projects which are largely self-financing, so-called lighthouses. (Large projects and major events such as the Mecklenburg Festival, Störtebecker or similar) Funding of experiments or socially relevant topics by freelance artists is almost impossible.
How are projects financed
We finance projects, including technology and equipment, as far as possible ourselves, with possible participation of other theatres.
Rarely do we receive a financial contribution from other sponsors.
